Elizabeth Eckford and Hazel Massery; Will Counts, 1957
I think the reason that this photo changed the world is because of the racism that was going on at that time. This photo really reflects the hatred and racism that was eminent. I have such a great respect for the blacks. Dealing with all the whites screaming at them, spitting out insults and disrepsecting them, must have been awful. But Lennart Nilsson goes to school despite that. That truly shows courage, something that definitely changed the world.
Man Walks on the Moon; Neil Armstrong, 1969
This photo clearly shows the importance of this mission. First man on the moon! This changed just about everything we know about the moon, and space. They did what everyone thought was not possible. And this was America showing the rest of the world what we are capable of, almost like we were saying "we can do the impossible". And in a way, we did the impossible.
The 9/11 attacks; New York Times, 2001
This photo shows the horrific event that happened in 2001. Although 2,996 people died in the terrorist attack. This traumatic experience made America stronger, and it shows us what we need to change to make this nation safe. We made sure we took better precautions at airports. Which definitely has made a difference.
